Social media is more powerful than ever. Many marketers believe that 2016 will be one of the best years for eCommerce, so making the most of your social media accounts is crucial to increasing your brand’s awareness and, ultimately, overall profits. If you’re thinking to yourself: “great, I get that I need more followers, but that’s a lot easier said than done,” look no further! These tips will teach you how to increase your brand awareness through social media and help you get you on the right track for increasing your followers and improving your brand’s online presence.

Post High Quality, Relevant Content

No matter how amazing your product or service is, posting content that isn’t good quality will only do your social media accounts harm. Make sure your photos are intriguing and high quality, but also relevant to your brand’s theme. Not sure where to start? Check out our post all about content creation for greater detail on making the best content for your brand here!

The biggest plus of posting good content: your followers will likely engage with it. Having a lot of followers is one thing, but having a lot of followers who also comment, like, and share your posts is much more valuable.

Put Yourself In Your Followers’ Shoes

Relating to the previous tip, think of yourself as a potential customer. What type of content would catch your eye? What makes you hit the “follow” or “like” button? Starting from this angle will give you the best chance at increasing (and keeping) followers. At the end of the day, we’re all just individuals looking for interesting photos and posts, so make sure that’s your brand!

Engage With Other Brands/Consumers

Great. So now that you’re getting the hang of how to get the best content to post, let’s talk about what to do next.

One of the leading features of social media is its ability to give direct feedback. Put aside time throughout the day to see what your followers are commenting on your posts and respond accordingly. If someone comments something positive, go ahead and give it a like or reply with a “thank you.” Acknowledging your followers is a sure way to keep them loyal and interested in your brand. Potential followers will also see these interactions and be more inclined to hit that follow or like button. It’s a win-win, really!

Do Your Own Research

We like to call it “hashtag research.” Browse through specific hashtags that relate to your brand to see what’s being talked about and who’s really interested in this topic. From there, you can like or comment on posts or even give a few follows to influencers in the industry. For example, if you sell home design products, check out the hashtags #DIY or #interiordesign and start to engage with the posts in those categories or make note of what is being talked about and how you can contribute.

Increase Customer Sharing

If you or your company sells a consumer product, this tip could really increase your followership. Having brand ambassadors who post photos with your product is a great way to market your brand so that it feels more like “word-of-mouth” and not so much advertising. If someone you looked up to posted about a product they really like, you would probably be much more willing to check it out and consider purchasing it, right?

Another outlet to consider is hosting a contest. Propose a “giveaway” of your product and have users enter by either sharing the post itself with a specific hashtag or tagging friends in the comments. It’s a fun way to interact with your followers and obtain new ones! Remember to post about the contest on all of your social media accounts to really get the word out.
