SDX 2016 Member Mixer Recap
Goin’ Up on a Tuesday: 2016 SDX Member Mixer Recap
On Tuesday, our team headed to The Nolen downtown San Diego for SDX’s member mixer, and let us tell you – they know how to throw an awesome event. Not that we expected anything less, but we were delightfully surprised at how un-networky this networking event was. No forced conversations, just awesome people mixing and mingling and having great conversation.
Some of the highlights for us? Well to start, who doesn’t love hanging out on a rooftop bar overlooking San Diego during sunset? SDX hosted us at the Nolen downtown – a newer spot atop the Marriott Courtyard of 6th street. Check out for yourself next time you’re in the area.
Our Industry Is Pokemon Go-Ing Places
We also made a few friends who shared Antonio’s passion and interest for talking Pokemon Go and how this game and VR technology mean big things for our industry in the near future. We’re all familiar to the hype surrounding this revolution, and though many people are tired of hearing about it we met plenty of fellow digital marketers last night who see the bigger picture of how this kind of virtual reality can be monetized for brands down the line.
Facebook Live Stream
Emily Reed, our Social Ads Specialist had some fun playing with Facebook’s new livestream feature. If you’re connected to the Power Digital Facebook page, you may have gotten a notification when we went live at the event. Subsequently, our livestream posts have gotten more engagement than any other posts to our page this week. We are excited to be rolling this feature out for our own efforts as well as our clients, as the live element and notifications to page followers are likely to help boost engagement and eyes on brand pages & content.
Old Friends & New Friends
The San Diego digital marketing scene is a close community, so it’s no surprise we ran into lots of friends. We chatted it up with Gary Ware, founder of Tower 33 and improv master. A few months ago, Gary led our team in an awesome improv workshop to help our team brush up on quick thinking & communication skills. Lucky for us, we snagged two of his collector’s edition business cards that we couldn’t resist tweeting about!
And of course, what would a networking event be without meeting new people? We’re glad to have made some new connections – thank you to SDX and Ad2 for introducing us!
Cheers!
