EMPOWERdigital Kicks Off with Meals on Wheels
Party Like Its Your Birthday – Meals On Wheels Style!
When Friday afternoon rolls around after a long week, there are some things we do here at Power Digital that help us relax, unwind and transition into weekend-mode. While often times this “something” involves a trip to the beach, a happy hour, or even taking the day off and partying on a yacht, last week we ended our week with something a little more meaningful.
With the help of our neighbors at Meals on Wheels (literally neighbors, we look out at their office from our window), we kicked off our first ever EMPOWERdigital event by putting together hand-picked “we care” packages for their elderly clients’ birthdays. Our team put together 20 birthday presents, each personalized for one of Meals on Wheels’ clients with both fun items like photo calendars, sudoku books, puzzles, photo albums and stationery, as well as necessities like soap, chapstick and lufas. Each care package was wrapped and topped off with a card signed with a kind message from one of our team members, and will be handed out on the birthdays of those who Meals on Wheels serves. With gifts like this are donated to their organization, Meals on Wheels is able to provide their clients with more than just food. Contributions of care packages like these help to ensure that no one is ever left feeling alone or forgotten on their birthday or the holidays.
Meals On Wheels Needs Your Help
If you know nothing more about Meals on Wheels other than what you’ve read so far in this blog post, you already know that they are a group of big hearted individuals who don’t just strive to make a difference in the lives of the elderly, they succeed every day! Meals on Wheels provides meals to over 1,300 of our elderly friends and family members each month in San Diego county alone. Pretty amazing, huh? To continue with their success in imroving the health and happiness of those they serve month after month, they need your help to keep it going.
Right now, Meals on Wheels is in need of Volunteers of all types – which you can browse on their site here. In particular, volunteers who can deliver food to their clients is cruicial to the efficiency of their operation. If that sounds of interest read more on Adopt a Route Volunteers.
It’s easy to overlook the little things that make a big difference. Meals on Wheels has made it their mission to never let those little things go unnoticed. They make sure our elderly friends and family members are getting the nutrition they need with each meal, and with the help of partners like us, they also make sure that no birthdays go uncelebrated!
What’s Next With EMPOWERdigital?
Every month, our team will be partnering with an organization, group or cause. This month, we’ll be hosting a donation-based digital marketing workshop at our office on September 29th at 5:30pm – all proceeds will benefit our furry friends at the San Diego Humane Society! More to come on that and several other events in the next couple of months, so stay tuned! We are honored to have kicked off our first event with Meals on Wheels San Diego and look forward to welcoming several more EMPOWER partners into the PDM family!
