PR Account Director

About the Role

The PR Account Director brings industry expertise, valued insight and strategic practices to the firm and clients. The person in this role will serve as a mentor to Account Managers, providing senior client counsel as needed, oversee client strategy, guide client budgets and provide experiential insight confidently. This person is responsible for developing, grooming, and fostering the Account Management skill set with junior PR staff and supports the PR Director of Account Management in identifying training opportunities. This role also includes Account Management and Executive Sponsorship for PR and cross-channel client accounts.



  • Navigates difficult client situations and conversations and identifies quick and comprehensive solutions with “FITFO” mentality
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to drive incremental revenue through service expansion, cross sells and resigns
  • Communicates “big picture” logistics and tactics to teams & clients
  • Serves as senior counsel for account strategy and high-level initiatives
  • Oversees team leads’ plans, budgets, strategy, and KPI’s to ensure alignment with client goals and expectations
  • Educates account staff on best practices for relationship building and media/influencer relations
  • Seen as resident media expert in agency, having high-level contacts in every vertical, and is able to quickly get press results for any agency client that is in need
  • Oversees senior account staff in the successful management of their respective accounts
  • Leads, manages, and hold senior staff accountable to deliverables and goals
  • Provides guidance and training to account staff in the performance of their roles
  • Has direct reports that display consistent growth and success in their own roles
  • Effectively manages remote employees’ response timeliness, workflow, sentiment, and bandwidth
  • Contributes new ideas to better the overall performance and efficiency of the agency
  • Embraces and supports organizational change, agency processes and procedures
  • Conducts performance reviews and approves and tracks individual goals
  • Participates in the account staff hiring process 
  • Writes and edits materials with keen eye for detail
  • Leads creative brainstorms and inspire collaboration
  • Maintains accurate Hourstack and Asana on a daily basis
  • Closes the loop on assignments and notify team members when action items are complete
  • Maintains positive client relationships which contribute to the overall revenue growth of the company
