Engagement & Outreach Specialist

About the Role

Job Summary – This is a cross-functional role between the PR umbrella of relationship building and the SEO umbrella of growing our client’s authority and presence online. The Engagement Specialist will be part of the PR team and is responsible for overseeing and managing the development of relationships and partnerships with publications on behalf of our clients. The goal is to secure digital placements with branded and linked mentions of the Power Digital client base to support our SEO efforts. This person is responsible for the performance, strategy and growth of the engagement team, as well as growing the Engagement & Outreach offerings within the PR department as a standalone service.


This team member is to work directly with the PR and SEO teams as well as both Account Managers and Executive Sponsors to lead the Premium Outreach offering, build and maintain strong client relationships, and meet the goals and timelines of the campaign, as well as identify new strategic opportunities.


The Engagement Specialist will report to the Director of PR, Alex James.


Most Important Things 

  1. Identify potential existing clients and new business opportunities to supplement the current PR and SEO Outreach strategies with Premium Outreach offering
    1. Prospect new business and service expansion for service offering 
    2. Develop sales materials to enhance new business outreach
  2. Develop and grow our engagement marketing team as client base grows and P&L dictates (hire, develop talent, exceed department goals)
  3. Improve client performance by growing prospective partnerships with publications, identifying channels for content distribution, and shaping the overall strategy
  4. Construct best-in-class reporting, guidelines and performance goals for the entire digital marketing team to adhere to


  • Manage and oversee strategic initiatives for the account for Premium Outreach
  • Lead internal collaboration across the account team to ensure a strategic SEO and PR strategy 
  • Clearly communicate all initiatives, strategies, and opportunities directly with clients as needed and on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Organize and facilitate client meetings (weekly/bi-weekly calls and monthly reporting calls) as related to the Outreach strategy, opportunities, and progress
  • Develop best-in-class workflow and processes for outreach
  • Manage relationships with existing partners and ensure new tools and processes are being adopted across all 
  • Vendor selection and software management for entire team
  • Overall performance and department growth


Future Responsibilities

  • Grow department by hiring top outreach specialists as the client base dictates
  • Move to manager role as team grows


Candidate Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills and ability to integrate SEO tactics, with content creation 
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills while managing multiple relationships 
  • Strong presentation skills with clients
  • Account management and client facing experience 
  • Existing relationships with media outlets and contacts across variety of industries 
  • Background in SEO outreach or strategic PR link building 
  • Knowledge of the following tools: MOZ, SEM Rush, Majestic 
  • Business-savvy mindset 
  • Can-do and problem-solving attitude 


Key Performance Indicators (KPI) 

  • Partnerships & placements: continued improvement in number of placements and relationships developed
  • Client retention and sentiment: maintain total managed revenue and positive client sentiment as determined by the Account Measurement Dashboard and NPS score to be measured bi-annually
  • Account growth: identify and execute on strategic opportunities to expand PDM services and grow managed revenue
