Advertisers have seen a great deal of success from the early uses of Facebook Messenger Bots. With that said, Facebook Messenger bots aren’t all that new anymore. And in fact, users are becoming more receptive and trained to understanding how to interact with different offers, games, messages, etc. from Facebook Messenger.

The goal of this post is to outline the most common / impactful tactics you will see in regards to Facebook Messenger Bots in 2019.

List Building

First and foremost, it’s extremely important to build a list within Facebook Messenger. If you’re reading this post, then you probably have an idea that when a user messages your brand on Facebook, you now are able to segment them onto a “list” that you can message them back through a certain period of time.

With that said, when you broadcast on Facebook Messenger, it doesn’t require any cost. So, if you are looking to run a Click to Message Ad, building the list for pennies can be extremely effective all while planning on nurture leads onto your ACTUAL email list down the line.

The result? Cheaper Leads that should be primed to convert because they’ve had mutiple touch points with your brand.

Quizzes

You know what’s been a really effective tool in the messenger bot world? Quizzes. Quizzes are great because it allows the user to answer questions and essentially segment themselves into lists based off of pain points.

With quizzes, it’s a balancing act of fun and information gathering. You don’t want to make every question like a survey.

So for example, for a popular soccer client of ours, we ran a quiz that asked “what pro soccer player are you?” And it asked a blend of fun questions, but also questions like “Who is your favorite player”

The favorite player question can be used to remarket users with jerseys of their favorite players. However, if we had only questions like that, users would be iffy.

Calculations

One thing Messenger Bots can be extremely useful for is calculations. More often than not, there is typically some sort of calculator you can create to introduce / nurture users with your brand.

For example, I’ve seen Tax Refund Calculator Boughts for CPA’s or, Monthly Mortgage Calculator Bots for Real Estate Agent.

It doesn’t need to be just financial either, what about a personal trainer creating a calculator to tell you what your daily calory intake needs to be? These types of bots require custom inputs, but will create custom outputs based off a formula.

Personal Shopper/E-Commerce

Check out Lego’s E-Commerce Bot….

This creates a personalized shopping experience based off the criteria you input.

TV Shows

Game of Throne has a real cool bot! This is a great way to get users to rave about a show and get watch ratings up.

Celebrity Bots

Check out these bots that generate ticket sales. Both the Golden State Warriors and Maroon 5 play to the ego of their fans and additionally let them know when they’ll be in that respective fans city.

Wrapping it Up

2019 will be a huge year for messenger bots. They’ve said this for years, but now it’s really taken off in terms of traction regarding the general public.

The key to the best bots will be CREATIVITY.
